Deeksha Mahila Welfare Society & Mandali

With women's empowerment as the goal, Deeksha Mahila Welfare Society & Mandali was started in 1999 in Veerasagaram village, Badangi Mandal, Vijayanagaram district, with the aim of providing welfare and social justice to women, tribals, backward classes, students, youth, and farmers. This organization, Deeksha Mahila Welfare Society & Mandali, was formed and shaped by a team of women passionate about ensuring women's self-reliance, social justice, financial independence, skill development, and sustainable livelihoods.

Ongoing Programs

Various developmental projects like Health, Education and Livelihood etc. are being implemented by Deeksha Mahila Welfare Society, with the assistance of State and Central Government since its inception. DMWS has associated with NABARD in the year 2011 and it has supported financially to form Farmers Clubs MEDPs, LEDP for the SHGs, Financial Literacy programme, Modal Village and Youth skills. NABARD had encouraged in formation of FPO in Badangi Mandal on promotion of Vegetables and processing of organic Jaggery in the year 2016. DMWS is facilitating 4 FPOs. Raitula Jattu KBU producer Company Ltd is registered under companies Act, and other 3 FPOs are registered under MACS Act.

In 25 years of DMWS journey, it has crossed all difficulties and now it is running towards success in implementing the various programs in its Developmental Area. The strength of the organization is well experienced and committed staff. With the collaboration of NABARD, DMWS facilitated in forming Farmer Produce Organizations with huge number of farmers in each of 4 FPOs. It has organized several MEDPs and LEDPs in strengthening SHG members in various skill development trainings like tailoring, fashion designing, Tamarind processing, different jaggery product making etc.  

Finance Literacy Training

This Finance Literacy Program is conducted at Mettavalasa village, in Thonam Panchayat of Salurmandal. This program is conducted in relation to the members who underwent 15 days training program on Masks and Sanitizers preparation in this village. Resource person Mr. P. Tirumala Rao, counselor, NABARD/DCCB, Smt. L. Santhi, CEO of DMWS, Mr. Bheema Rao, Dharani MACS CEO, village elder, School teacher and Beneficiaries participated in this program.
The program started with a prayer and later Smt. Santhi welcomed the resource person Mr. P. Tirumala Rao and participants. Later she asked the resource person to start the Finance Literacy program. Mr. Tirumala Rao told that our government is encouraging the backward areas that are getting low income. Further he told that all the people to get education to increase the income levels through jobs, business and other micro enterprises to develop financially to stand on their own legs and this is the main purpose of this program. He clearly explained that—
• Village level people to get income generation programs to develop financially
• You should not get discouraged for not getting schemes in right time
• You have to start small units like flour mill, rice mill, adda leaf making, brick making, masks and sanitizer making etc. You have to get skills and lead the life individually.
• NABARD is extending help through finance literacy program
• NABARD is supporting financially for construction of education buildings, water tanks, bridges, hospital buildings construction, bank loans etc. for the government
• NABARD is associated with The District Cooperative Urban Bank since 100years.
• DCCB will sanction agriculture loans to the farmers for purchase of manure, pesticides and other agriculture needs etc,
• If you form 5 member group, bank will provide loan of 5,00,000/- per acre and for two acres 10,00,000/-
• For farmer groups DCCB will provide loans for the purchase of sheep, goats, poultry, cows, she buffalos etc.
• Our financial support is meant for financial development only
• If anybody could not repay the loan amount will be made right off with specific reasons.
• Your financial development is very important
• You have to form into groups
• You have to create share capital of your own.
• You have to conduct regular meetings
• You have to maintain records of your group
• You have to start a unit of your own after submitting an application to bank
• If you start 100 units in a village, out of which 5 units are not successful, the bank will give assistance to fulfill 100% target
• Every unit has to repay the amount compulsorily
• You have to make insurance for any unit you start.
• At present there is 33% of reservation for women
• Every woman should be member in one or other group
• CM has signed first on the women sustainability file
• Both wife and husband should work for the financial development and for the development of the children in the areas of education and health

Smt. Santhi CEO of DMWS told that you have to plan systematically to complete any program. You have to form into small groups of 5 members and avail JLGs loans from DCCB. You have to make use of skills which you gained through training of Masks and Sanitizers and supplement additional income by selling them in the market. NABARD will certainly help us in facilitating to avail JLG loans from DCCB. She thanked all the participants, village elder, teacher, NABARD and Sri P.Tirumala Rao, resource person for giving this opportunity to the SHG members of Mettavalasa village and making the program a grand success.

Sanitation Literacy Program

Sanitation literacy program is conducted at Mungivanivala village in Thonam Panchayat of Salur mandal of Vizianagaram (dist), organized by Deksha Mahila Welfare Society with financial support of NABARD.
Smt. Santhi CEO of DMWS, thanked all the members for attending the meeting. She briefed the purpose of Sanitation Literacy program, later pamphlet regarding Development of Swatch agitation is inaugurated by the chief guest Sri Harish, DDM of NABARD and distributed among all the participants. After the inauguration of pamphlets, she told that happy to conduct this Sanitation Literacy program in Mungivanivalsa. Sri Harish DDM of NABARD has given this opportunity to organize this event in your village.She asked all the participants to learn all the important things and implement them in their daily life. She enquired the situation of sanitary latrines. She told that due to corona faced lot of problems in all the aspect related to livelihood. She also told that this program is supported by NABARD organized by Deeksha Mahila Welfare Society.
Smt. Vimala, HO from PHC Thonam addressed all the participants to use latrines, drinking hot water, washing hands with soap, cleaning of vegetables thoroughly before cooking, cleaning of surroundings every day and not to forget covering cooked food. If all these precautions are maintained regularly no disease will affect anybody and can be protected from dangerous Corona. She advised all the members to use mosquito nets to protect from mosquitoes.
The officials from different departments participated in this event and gave their valuable suggestions and precautions to be taken to prevent from the dangerous pandemic. The village head told that all necessary steps are taken in the village by youth to protect from the mosquitoes and cleaning of drains and village surroundings.
Sri. Harish, AGM, NABARD welcomed the members and thanked each and every one for attending this sanitary Literacy program. He expressed that as FPO members should solve small issues in the village and work together. He also told that should concentrate not only on agriculture but also other sectors of our livelihood. This Sanitation Literacy programs are conducted based on the central Government guidelines. He further suggested using sanitary latrines compulsorily to protect our health including children to elders. He said that everyone to use masks, sanitizer and maintaining social distance.
We have to wash our hands with soap at least 20 seconds as we use hands particularly on our face which is the vital part affecting this virus. People with low immunity are affecting by this virus. In order to increase our immunity, we have to take hot water regularly and eating balanced food. Suggested all the members to use latrines. We have seen lot of people died due to corona in India, state and district. In this regard all members to get knowledge about this virus and take necessary precautions to fight against this pandemic.

Training on Masks and Sanitizers (MEDP)

MEDP training on Masks and Sanitizers for interested and skilled SHG women for 30 members is given at Mettavalasa village of Thonam panchayat in Salur mandal of Vizianagaram Dist. From 11-11-2020 to 25-11-2020. The training is given as per the schedule by one resource persons for Stitching of Masks another resource person for preparation of Sanitizers. 

Crafts Mela

NABARD has organized crafts mela at Vijayawada from 12-03-2021 to 21-03-2021. They have invited all the NGO and FPOs working with NABARD. DMWS deputed Ritula Jattu FPC to participate in the Mela with all the products to display at the Mela. Mr.Eswara Rao director of Raitula Jattu FPC and Mr. Sridhar CEO of Raitu nestam FPO participated. During 10 days of mela, they sold nearly worth of Rs, 57,500/- of products like Jaggery, Jaggery powder and granuals Millets and Pulses. The stalls attracted the visitor and appreciated for the work of FPC. The officials witnessed the stall and purchased the organic products.
